Fairy Doody Hits The Fan: The Precure Trials!

You think that, after a summer break that exciting, things would settle down? NOPE. Things are starting to heat up for the Heartcatch girls.

It all started with a dream. A nightmarish vision Kaoruko Hanasaki had, watching the Earth being turned into a desert while Tsubomi, Erika and Itsuki watch on, powerless and helpless. She knew it was time for them to go one step further. The Desert King, Dune, was coming and she could feel it.

After trying to dissuade the trio from their duties as Precure (and knowing they wouldn't, watched as they turned her down), she lead the three, along with Yuri, to a special location hidden within a tree and unlocked with a special seed in Potpourri's possession. Inside was the passageway to a new location: the Precure Palace. Their mission there: to prove their worthiness as Precure to obtain the Heartcatch Mirage, an item that would allow them to gain infinite power. And to do that, they must fight the previous Precure. And in a certain room inside the palace, they're given their own challenge.

"In the past, I defeated the previous Precure and obtained the Heartcatch Mirage." Kaoruku said.

"But, I can't fight you, Grandma!" Tsubomi, now as Cure Blossom, protested.

"I am unable to fight you, Tsubomi, even for this ordeal." Kaoruku said. "That's why they will substitute in my place!"

They? They who? Whatever question they were going to ask were silenced by three silhouettes falling and landing in front of the three transformed Precure."

"You...!" Tsubomi stammered, in shocked.

Nagisa Misumi.

Honoko Yukishiro.

Karen Minazuki.

Three of the Precure before them, both in action and in the wonders of Drama Drama Duck. How did Kaoruko know of them? Had Tsubomi told her about them? Or perhaps had someone else?

"Why are they here?" Tsubomi asked.

"The battles with the Desert Apostles are going to get more harsh. No matter what happens, you must resolve to do what it takes! If you don't have that resolve, then give up being Precure!" Kaoruko said. Tsubomi turned to the three, conflicted slightly.

"Nagisa... Honoka... Karen... you three are my dear friends. But, there's things we must protect here. And... and I resolve to overcome you all!"

Itsuki just stands gawking for a long moment. But then, it's White. Standing around wondering how the hell she was going to survive... was going to get her killed. So she slid into a stance and prayed this couldn't get any worse.

"I don't want to fight you. But..." She shook her head, and when she looked over next, she was decided. "If this is what it takes to protect the people that are important to me, then so be it."

Honoka nods, looking at Itsuki before sliding down into her own fighting stance. "I know. I don't want to either, but... if proving yourself like this is the only way for you three to get that power you need, then I can't hold back."

Well, she couldn't hold back more than the fact that she and Nagisa were fighting different people and therefore couldn't use anything beyond basic punches and kicks, anyway. But from what Honoka understood, that wasn't even the point.

The point was for them to prove themselves in this battle, so using those attacks weren't something that she'd be doing anyway.

"You better not hold back either. You won't win if you do."

"I'd sooner die. There's too much at stake. So... Cure White."

And she's gone, off like a rocket and airborne on a path over Honoka's head, upside down and facing her unlikely enemy.

"Have at thee...!"

Well. Honoka did have to remember that unlike her, Sunshine had been training in martial arts before she became a Precure. Or at all.

Despite that though, so far Sunshine hadn't really tried anything yet, but Honoka's already flipped around and ready to try to counter whatever it was that Itsuki tried to use for her opening move.
sunbloom: ([S] Sunflower Aegis!)

Sunshine had one big advantage over White in this format: access to magic. And she was going to play every advantage she had.

"Sunshine Aegis!" And the huge sunflower blazed into being in midair; but she kept swinging around. "Impact!" Continuing to spin, she dropped a heel down onto the shield, sending it careening down in White's general direction and bouncing off it toward the far wall.
iwontforgivethis: (Cure White: What's going on NOW?!)

[personal profile] iwontforgivethis 2013-05-18 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Sunshine could fire off her barriers like energy blasts. That... was something that would've been good to know before.

Still, Honoka manages to jump out of the way of the attack easily enough, before pushing down with her feet to torpedo towards Sunshine and throw a punch towards the other girl's face. Hopefully she'd be fast enough to slip through before Sunshine could put up another barrier.
sunbloom: (Whaaaat!?)

"Fast...!"

Itsuki wasn't used to humanoid enemies that didn't suck horribly and/or have absurdly non-standard attacks. So it was both refreshing and worrying to have a punch coming right for her at high speed. Without any good way to put something between herself and White, she let her martial arts training take over, falling back into stance and reaching to grab the outstretched arm as Honoka got closer.
iwontforgivethis: (Cure White: What are we doing?!)

[personal profile] iwontforgivethis 2013-05-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Honoka wasn't any more used to fighting against humanoid enemies, and as such, Honoka's arm was easily caught in Itsuki's grab. Her eyes widened as she realized what happened, moving to try to send out a kick to Itsuki's stomach to get the other girl to let go of her.

Fighting in three dimensions is new to Itsuki too, but she's picking it up fast - she lets go with one arm to bend out of the way, using the other to try and throw White away into the now-distant ground. With only one arm, though, there's no real leverage; there's plenty of chance for Honoka to try another tactic.

Well, Honoka knew an opening when she saw it, taking advantage the lack of a grip that Itsuki had on her to break out of it and jump out of the way. Her feet landed on the wall, and then instead of going straight towards Itsuki, she jumped towards the other wall instead. Flipping around when she hit it, she pushed off wall with her feet again, this time hoping to jump higher than Itsuki so she could either send a punch or kick to the other cure's head, whichever was easier for her to do.
sunbloom: ([S] This wasn't what I had in mind.)

Itsuki wasn't really prepared to get dislodged entirely, but recovered well enough to catch herself on the ground without a messy tumble. But, looking up at a quickly-approaching White, she wasn't sure what options she had - Itsuki was confident she was the stronger fighter, but it was becoming apparent that Honoka may be the stronger Precure. She couldn't afford to take a big hit like that regardless, so she rolled aside and took a stance, hoping Honoka would actually need a moment to recover. If power had made her some kind of actual fighting threat, the blonde knew she was doomed.

[personal profile] iwontforgivethis 2013-05-20 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, a moment to recover was definitely something that Honoka needed, if only because she had actually sent out the kick. Which meant that her leg was slamming into the wall instead.

She quickly pulled away from the wall and turned to face Itsuki against before she charged towards her again, throwing out a punch towards the other girl's chest. If there was anything the last attempt taught her, it was that she needed to go after a part of the other girl that was a wider target.

[personal profile] sunbloom 2013-05-21 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That move she could deal with; it was common enough in the dojo that she'd trained until she could do it with a split-second's notice. The problem was the timing. And as Honoka approached, Itsuki's eyes narrowed.

When the moment came, she snapped an arm out to turn the punch aside and, assuming all went well, threw one of her own at White's side or back, depending on how much momentum her opponent carried through.
iwontforgivethis: (Honoka: Oh)

[personal profile] iwontforgivethis 2013-05-21 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Honoka realized too late that punching towards Itsuki's chest was a mistake. Of course, she would be able to block that, almost all martial artists trained to defend themselves from that kind of attack, it was the wider area.

So Itsuki's punch hit Honoka in the side without too much trouble, and she let out a wince. It wasn't as bad as getting it by a Zakena, but it still hurt a lot. She readied herself for another strike, hoping she'd be able to block that one while she worked to try to get her arm free.
